Huichelarij
Huichelarij wordt ook schijnheiligheid of (naar het Grieks) hypocrisie genoemd.
Hypocrisie is de praktijk waarbij men zich bezighoudt met hetzelfde gedrag of dezelfde activiteit waarvoor men een ander bekritiseert, of de praktijk om te beweren morele normen of overtuigingen te hebben waaraan het eigen gedrag niet in overeenstemming is. In de morele psychologie is het het niet volgen van de eigen uitgesproken morele regels en principes.
Bij huichelaars is vaak sprake van - zoals ze in het Engels zeggen - "Do as a say, not as I do"

Marc Morano heeft een hilarisch of eigenlijk ook heel droevig achtergrondverhaal geschreven waarin hij uitgebreid ingaat op het feit dat Obama in zijn toespraak na het winnen van de Democratic nomination op 8 juni 2008 bezwoer dat: my presidency will be the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.
Hij moet wel heel zeker zijn geweest van zijn zaak, gezien het feit dat hij in 2019 voor $ 15 miljoen een huis aan het strand kocht op Martha's Vineyard!

Of course, the thing about Martha’s Vineyard is that it is a low lying island. And the thing about Obama’s mansion is that it is on the beach front.
Whats My Elevation lists the elevation of their home as being 3 feet above sea level. Others place it at 10 feet.
Either way, either the Obamas made a very stupid investment, or they don't believe in the nonsense that they tried to bankrupt their country for.
Of course, Obama did promise us in 2008 that we will be able to look back and tell our children this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow.
Maybe he really was the Messiah after all!

The unanimous opinion of the judges, it was our Preening Politician of the year who should take the overall accolade of Climate Hypocrite of the Year 2020. And who is that, we hear you ask? Well, it’s someone who does his hypocrisy on a truly global scale.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we give you Xi Jinping, the president of China. The General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party is a deserving winner this year for his smooth parading of “concern” for the climate while all the time building hundreds of coal-fired power stations in China and around the world as fast as he possibly can.

De zakelijk- en politiek leiders van onze wereld hebben hier duidelijk weinig moeite mee (zo)als ze reizen naar hun jaarlijks World Economic Forum in Davos.

Greta Thunberg vliegt niet naar de VN-conferentie in de USA, maar reist op een kostbaar jacht, gebouwd van fossiel materiaal, met bemanning die gewoon per vliegtuig terug reist.
Schaamteloos ? Klimaathuichelarij ?
Ook de VN klimaatconferentie COP-26 in Glasgow, november 2021, is weer goed voor heel veel vliegverkeer, waaronder meer dan 400 privé-jets.
Charles III
In zijn artikel Revenge of the feudalists stelt Brendan O'Neill de hypocrisie van koning Charles III aan de kaak na zijn optreden op de COP-28 klimaatconferentie in Dubai.
‘The Earth does not belong to us’, said King Charles at COP28 in Dubai last week. I don’t know about that, Your Majesty: a lot of it certainly belongs to your family. When he was Prince of Wales, Charles oversaw the Duchy of Cornwall, which consists of 205 square miles of land spread across 23 counties in England and Wales. Upon his ascension to the throne last year, he handed this vast territory to his son, William. Since 1337, you see, it’s been the heir to the throne who has enjoyed command over the duchy. Imagine the brass neck it takes to pontificate to the plebs about their non-ownership of the Earth while you and your family sit atop vast tracts of land worth £1 billion.
