Huichelarij
Huichelarij wordt ook schijnheiligheid of (naar het Grieks) hypocrisie genoemd.
Hypocrisie is de praktijk waarbij men zich bezighoudt met hetzelfde gedrag of dezelfde activiteit waarvoor men een ander bekritiseert, of de praktijk om te beweren morele normen of overtuigingen te hebben waaraan het eigen gedrag niet in overeenstemming is. In de morele psychologie is het het niet volgen van de eigen uitgesproken morele regels en principes.
Bij huichelaars is vaak sprake van - zoals ze in het Engels zeggen - "Do as a say, not as I do"

Marc Morano heeft een hilarisch of eigenlijk ook heel droevig achtergrondverhaal geschreven waarin hij uitgebreid ingaat op het feit dat Obama in zijn toespraak na het winnen van de Democratic nomination op 8 juni 2008 bezwoer dat: my presidency will be the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.
Hij moet wel heel zeker zijn geweest van zijn zaak, gezien het feit dat hij in 2019 voor $ 15 miljoen een huis aan het strand kocht op Martha's Vineyard!

Of course, the thing about Martha’s Vineyard is that it is a low lying island. And the thing about Obama’s mansion is that it is on the beach front.
Whats My Elevation lists the elevation of their home as being 3 feet above sea level. Others place it at 10 feet.
Either way, either the Obamas made a very stupid investment, or they don't believe in the nonsense that they tried to bankrupt their country for.
Of course, Obama did promise us in 2008 that we will be able to look back and tell our children this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow.
Maybe he really was the Messiah after all!

While she was Vice President, Harris was the chief spokesperson for the ClimateReady Coasts Initiative, a program that provided large grants for projects dealing with climate change in coastal areas of the United States. In April of 2023, this project issued 149 such grants, totaling $562 million.
She announced this grant program while visiting the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science in Florida.
At that time, she also remarked, “To live in a coastal community is to live on the front lines of the climate crisis.”

The General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party is a deserving winner this year for his smooth parading of “concern” for the climate while all the time building hundreds of coal-fired power stations in China and around the world as fast as he possibly can.

Vliegschaamte, maar niet voor iedereen

De zakelijk- en politiek leiders van onze wereld hebben hier duidelijk weinig moeite mee (zo)als ze reizen naar hun jaarlijks World Economic Forum in Davos.

Greta Thunberg vliegt niet naar de VN-conferentie in de USA, maar reist op een kostbaar jacht, gebouwd van fossiel materiaal, met bemanning die gewoon per vliegtuig terug reist.
Schaamteloos ? Klimaathuichelarij ?
Ook de VN klimaatconferentie COP-26 in Glasgow, november 2021, is weer goed voor heel veel vliegverkeer, waaronder meer dan 400 privé-jets.

In zijn artikel Revenge of the feudalists stelt Brendan O'Neill de hypocrisie van koning Charles III aan de kaak na zijn optreden op de COP-28 klimaatconferentie in Dubai.
‘The Earth does not belong to us’, said King Charles at COP28 in Dubai last week. I don’t know about that, Your Majesty: a lot of it certainly belongs to your family. When he was Prince of Wales, Charles oversaw the Duchy of Cornwall, which consists of 205 square miles of land spread across 23 counties in England and Wales. Upon his ascension to the throne last year, he handed this vast territory to his son, William. Since 1337, you see, it’s been the heir to the throne who has enjoyed command over the duchy. Imagine the brass neck it takes to pontificate to the plebs about their non-ownership of the Earth while you and your family sit atop vast tracts of land worth £1 billion. ‘Klimaatdrammer’ Jetten viert bruiloft in Spanje met 300 gasten
Rob Jetten, D66-leider en oud-klimaatminister, vliegt volgend jaar met driehonderd gasten naar Spanje voor zijn bruiloft. De onthulling deed hij in de tv-quiz De slimste mens. Het is opvallend, omdat Jetten zich als minister sterk inzette voor minder vliegen, aldus De Telegraaf.
Tijdens de uitzending van TV-serie "de slimste mens" vertelde Jetten openlijk over zijn privéleven. Hij maakte bekend dat hij zijn Argentijnse partner ten huwelijk heeft gevraagd. ‘Dan bel je je schoonmoeder om het nieuws te vertellen en vanaf die seconde ben je niet meer de baas over je eigen trouwerij’, zei hij lachend. De trouwplannen worden groots aangepakt. Jetten liet weten dat hij zijn huwelijk in Spanje viert. Niet alleen hijzelf, maar ook driehonderd gasten zullen daarheen vliegen voor het feest. Opvallend contrast De timing van die mededeling trok extra aandacht. Kort daarvoor vertelde Jetten in dezelfde uitzending hoe hij de bijnaam ‘klimaatdrammer’ omarmt. Hij zei dat hij die term inmiddels als geuzennaam ziet. Juist daarom valt de keuze voor een bruiloft in Spanje op. Als minister van Klimaat pleitte Jetten namelijk voor strengere maatregelen om vliegen te ontmoedigen. In 2023 opperde hij zelfs om de vliegbelasting met enkele tientallen euro’s te verhogen om de klimaatdoelen te halen. Jetten stelde als minister dat de klimaatdoelen, waaronder een CO2-reductie van 55 tot 60 procent ten opzichte van 1990 alleen gehaald kon worden als vervuilende activiteiten, zoals vliegen, zoveel mogelijk worden belast en daarmee ontmoedigd.

De jaarlijkse klimaatconferentie van de Verenigde Naties, de zgn. COP-30, oftewel de 30e "Conference of Parties, vindt plaats bij de stad Belem (1,5 miljoen inwoners) in Brazilië.
Meen verwachtte aanvankelijk 50.000 gedelegeerden uit de hele wereld. Aangezien de beschikbare aomodaties slecht 25.000 slaapplaatsen tellen, zijn de overnachtingsprijzen zo hoog, dat veel landen een kleinere delegatie gaan sturen dan normaliter.
De USA heeft zich inmiddels (2025) teruggetrokken uit het klimaataccoord van Parijs (2015), maar ik denk dat er toch nog heel wat Amerikaanse gedelegeerden op zullen komen dagen
Veel gedelegeerden komen per privé-vliegtuig. Daarom wordt het vliegveld van Belem vergroot.
Tevens wordt er dwars door het oerwoud (dat zoveel bescherming nodig heeft) een snelweg gebouwd om de gedelegeerden naar de plek van de conferentie te brengen.
David Blackmon schrijft er het volgende over op ClimateChangeDispatch, 6-10-2025:
"Improving the city’s and region’s infrastructure has also presented a major challenge to Belem officials, leading to some stunning displays of rank hypocrisy and lack of concern about the same carbon emissions that attendees all claim are destroying the planet.
"One perfect example is the fact that the city of 1.5 million’s smallish airport had to be massively expanded to be able to accommodate the flood of hundreds of private jets, which so many globalist elites use to fly into these COP events each year. After all, as John Kerry famously said, they can’t be expected to fly commercial,can they?
In July, Brazil’s aviation authority warned that last-minute expansion efforts were falling behind schedule because, well, it turns out it gets really hot in the Amazon during the summertime. Who could have seen that one coming, after all?

The most massive display of rank hypocrisy, though, came not from the airport expansion itself, but from the brand new shiny four-lane expressway which had to be constructed right through the heart of the CO2-trapping rainforest to accommodate all the limos and high-end sedans those globalist elites will ride from the airport into the city. That project involves the bulldozing of thousands of trees in a part of the rainforest that was supposed to be a protected area by heavy equipment powered by – gasp! – the same “fossil fuels” and emitting mass quantities of the very same plant food that the conferees deride as poisonous pollution.
Improving the city's and region's infrastructure has also presented a major challenge to Belem officials, leading to some stunning displays of rank hypocrisy and lack of concern about the same carbon emissions that attendees all claim are destroying the planet.Worse, the highway is paved in asphalt, a substance which is derived from – you guessed it – oil.
Readers who still wonder why President Donald Trump laid out such a negative view of those who preach the climate alarm religion during his recent speech at the U.N.’s Climate Week conference need look no further than what is happening in Belem today. This isn’t complicated."
