Het VN-klimaatpanel (IPCC) zelf erkend:
"The climate system is a coupled non–linear chaotic system, and therefore the long-term prediction of future climate states is not possible".
Maar deze constatering heeft hen er niet van kunnen weerhouden om toch uitspraken over de toekomstige klimaatontwikkeling te doen. (bron:

Het KNMI denkt ook dat haar prognoses (scenario's) waarschijnlijk niet zullen uitkomen, gezien wat het KNMI op haar site zelf over scenario’s zegt in 2014:
"The variability of the system poses limitations to the predictability of the climate state. Internal variations of the climate system beyond the monthly scale (…) are difficult to predict and at time scales of 30 – 100 years useful predictions are basically impossible. Not only because the large contribution of the natural variability, also because the external forcing related to human activity.
Any attempt to make climate predictions (…) cannot be expected to lead to skilful results”.

En, als een voorspelling al eens uitkomt, is er vaak aanvankelijk door niemand geloof aan gehecht, zoals beschreven in de Griekse mythologie over de voorspellende gave van de Trojaanse prinses Cassandra, die o.a. de val van Troje en de dood van Agamemnon voorspelde, maar niet werd gegeloofd. Voorspellen is moeilijk, vooral waar het de toekomst betreft.........

De Trojaanse prinses Cassandra kon de toekomst wel voorspellen, maar haar noodlot was dat niemand haar ooit zou geloven. Tegenwoordig verwijst de term cassandravoorspelling naar een onheilsvoorspelling die achteraf correct blijkt te zijn; meer in het bijzonder naar het fenomeen dat voorspellingen van onafwendbaar onheil over het algemeen niet geloofd worden, hetgeen de voorspeller in de machteloze situatie plaatst dat hij weet dat er een ramp te gebeuren staat, maar anderen er niet van kan overtuigen het nodige te doen om de schade te beperken. Met onheilsprofeten en boodschappers van slecht nieuws loopt het dikwijls slecht af....... Kees Lepair gebruikt deze Grieks sage om zijn licht te werpen op de huidige klimaatcontroverse tussen AGW-gelovigen en ongelovigen in wetenschap, politiek en publiek: Climategate.nl, 29-5-2019. Hij voorspelt groot onheil vanwege het vigerende alarmistisch klimaatdenken en het daaruit voortvloeiende rampzalige klimaat-beleid. Wetende dat het onheilspriofeten zoals Cassandra en hij dikwijls slecht vergaat, zoekt hij alvast een veilig onderduikadres....... Psalm 91 komt hem al tegemoet, want "Wie in de schuilplaats des Allerhoogsten is gezeten, vernacht in de schaduw des Almachtigen". Wie een schuilplaats zoekt voor nadere overpeinzing en de nodige frisse lucht kan hier terecht. |

De zgn. strijd tegen nepnieuws verwordt al heel gauw tot een Orwelliaans Ministerie van Waarheid.
Zoals Murphy (2022) hier beschrijft, kennen de Verenigde Staten van Amerika sinds de regering Biden zo'n organisatie, genaamd de "Disinformation Governance Board", een afdeling binnen de "Department of Homeland Security (DHS)", hun ministerie van binnenlandse veiligheid. Volgens Murphy een ondermijning van het beroemde Amerikaanse "Firts Amendment" op de grondwet, het recht van vrije meningsuiting.
Zo spraken wij over onze legeracties in Nederlands-Indië, vlak na de 2e wereldoorlog, b.v. niet over een "Speciale militaire operatie" à la Poetin in 2022 m.b.t. zijn inval in Oekraïne, maar van een "1e en 2e Politionele Actie". Nou reken maar dat er soldaten naar toe werden gestuurd en geen politie-agenten om de vrijheidsstrijders voor onafhankelijkheid (in onze pers: opstandelingen en teroristen) te bestrijden.
